What to do when X won't publish your post (restricted or suspended account)

When you publish to X (Twitter) through Scheduled, you may run into this error: You are not permitted to perform this action (403 "Forbidden"). Don't worry, it doesn't come from Scheduled: your X account is temporarily restricted or suspended on X's side. You can fix it directly on x.com, often in a few minutes.

Understanding the error

This error means X has blocked new posts from your account. The exact message X returns is You are not permitted to perform this action.

Here's the confusing part: Scheduled successfully prepares and uploads your media (image or video) to X. It's only the tweet creation that X refuses. And if you publish from another X account connected to Scheduled, it works fine. So it's this specific account that's affected, not your calendar or Scheduled.

Why my account?X often restricts accounts that post repeated promotional content (the same links, mentions or hashtags) or that trip its anti-spam filters. In most cases it's automatic and temporary.

Step-by-step solution

Step 1: Sign in to x.com with this account

  1. Open x.com in your browser.
  2. Sign in with the exact account shown in the error (the one on your calendar).

Step 2: Check for a restriction to lift

Look for any of these on X:

  1. A banner or message saying your account is limited or suspended.
  2. A verification request (phone number or email address).
  3. A captcha or a "I'm not a robot" confirmation.

If you see no message, try posting a tweet manually from x.com. If X blocks you by hand too, the restriction is confirmed.

Step 3: Follow X's instructions to unlock the account

  1. Complete the requested verification (phone, email or captcha).
  2. If the account is suspended, open X's appeal form from the page shown.
  3. Wait for confirmation that your account is active again.

Step 4: Re-trigger the post from Notion

  1. Once your account is reactivated, go back to Notion.
  2. Re-trigger the post (change its status) so Scheduled publishes it again.

Can Scheduled cause this?

No. Scheduled uses X's official API and simply sends your post. The refusal comes from X's systems, which decide to restrict an account. Reconnecting your X account in Scheduled won't unlock anything while the restriction is still in place on X's side: the only useful action is to resolve the restriction on x.com.

Resolution timeline

Most restrictions lift as soon as you complete the requested verification (a few minutes). For a suspension with an appeal, X can take from a few hours to a few days to respond. If your account is still blocked with no explanation after 48h, contact X support.

Key takeaways

  • The error You are not permitted to perform this action (403) comes from X, not from Scheduled.
  • It affects one specific account: your other accounts keep publishing normally.
  • Common cause: repeated promotional content that trips X's anti-spam.
  • The fix happens on x.com: lift the restriction (phone/email verification, captcha or appeal).
  • Reconnecting the account in Scheduled won't help until X has unblocked it.
  • Once unblocked, re-trigger the post from Notion.
